30 Day Movie Challenge

So with everyone being stuck inside their homes (since this whole pandemic is still going on), I’ve seen some people share ideas of things to write about daily to take our minds off of the stresses of the world. And one of the things that caught my eye most was a 30-day movie challenge: each day, you would pick a film based on a certain theme, kind of like those lists you’d see people share on Facebook back in the day, tagging their friends in them so that they’d do the same, but in this case it would be more to talk about why that movie was chosen for my version of the list. Here’s the template I’m mostly basing mine off of:

Like I said, I’ll mostly be basing my list on this, but making a few changes here and there. And I’m going to try to stick to some rules for the prompts as well, so that I can keep it interesting:

  1. I have to have actually seen the whole film. There have been a few films over the years where I stopped watching partway through, like Ghost Rider or The Shape of Water. While they may fit into some of the categories, it wouldn’t be fair to have just watched some clips of it online and considered it enough.
  2. No choosing multiple films from the same series. For instance, I like a lot of the Harry Potter movies, and could make each one fit into a category, easily knocking out 8 spots. But I don’t necessarily want this to be easy; I want to be able to explain why I chose the film for that spot, go in depth a bit for my reasoning.
  3. Only films that have already made it past their initial release. This will be fairly easy to do for my chosen films since theaters are still mostly closed, and a lot of those that are open have chosen to screen older movies just to attract people back to them. Some movie companies have adopted a straight to home release model, which has worked for some movies… not so much for others, though. Because of the current state of the world the movie-going experience has certainly changed, but at least for the sake of this challenge I’m going to choose films that others have the chance to see for themselves.

I did this all throughout the month of July, putting the posts up on my original Instagram account and personal Facebook page. I’ll make sure each movie is posted here in case you ever want to go back and find it, and each post will include links to IMDb to see more details about the movie and the occasional clip to explain what I’m talking about a bit more. Hope you like it!
