2. Film I like that starts with M – Muppet Treasure Island

The prompt’s official theme is “Film I Like that Starts with the Same First Letter as My First Name”, but the title above just saves a bit of room.

Being that my name starts with an M, there’s a decent amount I could have chosen from for this. But recently I saw the newer Muppet movies from 2011 and 2014, and while they were pretty fun I thought I’d choose one from a while back that has still held up incredibly well.

Muppet Treasure Island adapts the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson in a fantastic way. Memorable songs, excellent casting (not just for the Muppets themselves, but especially with Tim Curry as the antagonist Long John Silver), and lots of rewatchability. This is one that I’ve made sure to have a physical copy of since streaming services – while greatly convenient – may not always have the content you want available. Plus you often get things like special features that not all streaming services have, like making-of featurettes, cast and crew commentary, and even sing-alongs! This particular movie has one for “Cabin Fever,” coincidentally appropriate for what’s been going on the last few months.
