23. Film made by a director who’s passed away – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

The late John Hughes brought us so many movies that are now considered classics: he directed The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles, he helped write for some of the Home Alone movies, Flubber, and even some of the National Lampoon’s Vacation movies. But easily one of the best pieces he ever put out was Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

This movie basically plays out like every kid’s dream. Figuring out a way to get out of school and hang out with his best friend and girlfriend, cruising around town in a fancy car, starring in a huge parade – who wouldn’t want to live that for a day, and get away with it? Ferris was the ultimate smooth talking cool guy, and he managed to charm the pants off of nearly everyone he came in contact with. Hard to not envy that guy a bit.
