The prompt didn’t say it had to be a job in the real world! Ever since Pokémon first came out in the United States and I had my copy of Red Version, I became obsessed with the franchise like many millions of others and imagined how cool it would be to actually train Pokémon in the real world. And sure, there are actually animal trainers in real life, but Pokémon have that fantastical quality to them; they’re more than just pets, they’re partners that can do incredible things that real life animals just… can’t.

As far as the movie goes, I thought it was a perfectly made children’s film. The designs of the different Pokémon took a little bit of time to get used to, but after a while it didn’t matter because the actors interacted with them all to a degree that it seemed like they were really there. Hard to do sometimes when you’ve got CG actors to work with. It has a fun amount of easter eggs for those long-time fans like me, and ended up being pretty successful too.
